Gandhian studies centre (GSC) has been established in B.S.N.V.P.G. College, University of lucknow in the scheme of "Epoch making social thinkers of India" under the XI Five Year Plan of University Grants Commission (UGC) New Delhi. The  objectives for the centre has been well defined by the UGC in these words: "India has produced great thinkers and leaders”, who by their revolutionary and path breaking thoughts and actions have left a lasting impact not only on India but on the world as a whole. They have developed indigenous ideas and have provided cultural and ethical identity to India. There is a great need to acquaint with their thinking and work to involve them in studies, research and field work based on extensive service programme of constructive nature.


The GSC is dedicated to impart education on thoughts and teachings of Gandhiji to inculcate a new life style based on moral values among the students, research scholars, teachers and academicians.

 

A Brief Report (2010-11)

On 30th Jan 2011 Professor Ramji Singh, Chancellor VikramShila, Hindi Vidyapeeth, Barhat Bhagalpur (Bihar) formally inaugurated the centre and speaking on this occasion emphasized to follow teachings of Gandhiji as there was no difference between his words and actions. Dr. S.D. Ojha also delivered his lecture in which he threw light upon the ideology of Gandhiji as a great need in the present scenario. This programme was presided over by Sri Surendra Singh.


On 12th March 2011 Prof. R.K. Bhushan addressed and delivered his lecture in the series and laid emphasis on Gandhian ideology of non-violence in the prevailing situation of insecurity and terrorism, which was needed with the principles of Sarvodaya. Dr. D.P. Bajpai, Ex. Principal of the College also delivered a lecture on the relevance of Ahimsa of Gandhiji in present context. This programme was presided over by Prof. L.D. Thakur, Ex Head Deptt. Of Pol. Sc. Lucknow University who rendered his blessings to the centre. The centre is committed to organize more series of lectures, symposium, short term courses, national and international seminars based on Gandhian thought and teachings. In this continuation, the centre organized one day National Seminar on 'Gandhi and Universal welfare' on 13th of March 2011 with the chief Guest Shri K.N. Govinda Charya, Guest of Honour Prof. Y.D. Prasad and Prof. R.K. Bhushan as the Chair Person on this occasion.

 

A Brief Report (2011-12)

 

On 2nd october 2011, A Lecture of Prof. S.N. Kapoor (Head A.I.H.L.U) was organized on the topic 'Gandhi-Bhartiya Sanskrit Ke Samvahak'. This programme was presided over by Shri Ram Krishna Dubey (Retd. Judge) who appealed to the youngers to follow the Path of Ahimsa.


After this, a series of Lecture was organized by G.S.C. in which main speakers are to be mentioned Prof. B.K.Tewari (L.U.), Dr. Farooqi (Principal, Mumtaz College), Dr S.K. Singh (D.S.N. College, Unnao), Dr. Rachna Srivastava and Dr. Vineeta Srivastava (A.P. Sen College, Lucknow), Dr Brijesh Kumar Shukla (Rao I.A.S.), Shri S.R. Gupta (Voice of Lucknow) and other 15 lectures were delivered by speakers of the college and other fields of society.


On 09-12-11 a meeting of Advisory committee was held in the Principal’s room which was attended by Prof. S.K. Jha (Gorakhpur University), Prof. S.K. Dwivedi (L.U.), Shri Naveen Joshi (Exec. Editor, Hindustan), Dr. G.C. Mishra Principal and D.C. Mishra as Director. The Committee approved the syllabus for six month diploma course and rendered valuable suggestions for organizing seminars.


On 30 Jan 2012 a seminar was organized on the topic 'Gandhi and world peace. It was presided over by Justice Tilhari (Retd.), Shri Raj Nath Singh “Surya” and Shri R.K. Mittal (Retd. I.A.S.), Shri T.N. Mishra Secretary Manager and Dr. G.C. Misra also addressed the audiences.


On 18-03-2012 a National Seminar was organized on the topic 'Sanctity in Public Life and Gandhian Thought' presided over by Justice Kamlesh Nath (Retd.). The Key note address was delivered by Prof. Ram Ji Singh Ex. M.P. and Chancellor Vikram Shila Hindi Vidyapeeth Bhagalpur (Bihar), Prof. V.K. Mishra also addressed delegates as Guest of Honour.


In all above programmes as Director GSC, I am grateful to Dr. G.C. Mishra Principal as well as Shri T. N. Mishra the Secretary/Manager, staff of the college without whose, presence in all the programmes, success could not have been a achieved.
